March 31 to April 3 were spent in the tourist beach town named Phuket (the h is silent).
The flight to Phuket required a layover in Koh Samui. There was a flight that went direct however alex and Chrissy opted for safer airline, Bangkok Airways, as opposed to AsiaAir or ThaiAair. And little did they know that their tickets to this flight got them into the Bangkok Airways private VIP lounge with free snacks, coffee, and better Wi-Fi!
The layover in Koh Samui was surreal. The airport was open to the outdoors, you took little trolleys from the plane to the terminal. It honestly felt more like a resort than an airport. People were getting foot massages, the airport bar had a two for one happy hour special, and the bathroom has a fish tank at the entrance. There were lounge chairs overlooking ponds with Lilly pads and Alex and Chrissy almost wished their layover here was longer than one hour.
Alas, they once again boarded the little trolley to a ge propeller plane that would take them 55 minutes over the small stretch of southern Thailand to Phuket. The island was surprisingly hill. Once the girls were settled at the Burasari hotel, they grabbed dinner with Chrissy’s friend from New Jersey and prepped for their excursion the next day!
Phuket day 2 – BEING BOND, JAMES BOND
First the first time in 18 months; the James Bond Island Tour had been reopened so Alex and Chrissy felt lucky to be doing this today! They hopped in a van with their friend Nick and were taken to the north east side of the island to board the large catamaran to James Bond Island.
The tour itself was led by a silly man named Noomi. The weather was perfect for a day of canoeing through caves, taking in the scenery, and swimming in the Andaman Sea. Shoutout to the best canoe man at Amazing Canoeing who was sure to stop and take pictures as well as point out weird shaped rocks.
The final day in Phuket was spent resting by the pool at the hotel and then Patong Beach. at the beach, vendors would come and try to sell you things every 5 minutes. There were lots of pigeons, including a pigeon that was neon orange. Alex and Chrissy got room service for dinner and because of the language difference, Chrissy’s order of a glass of wine was literally just a wine glass.
